This begins with a massive lay-off at a wall street investment bank which sees Stanley Tucci acting as Eric Dale a risk management head as one of the victims but just as he exits the building, he passes over an unfinished project to one of his protégé Zachary Quinto who on filling in the missing parts discovers how much danger the firm is in and initiating a call which results into an emergency overnight meeting convened by the Firm’s Chairman who reminds his top managers of the 3 ways of survival i.e. be First, be Smarter, Cheat to which they agree to be First hence sacrificing a full division together with the entire division customer base in order to save the firm against the customers and partners. The movie meant to depict one of the big 4 wall street investment banks just before the 2008 financial crisis leads to 2 possibilities i.e. Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs but since Lehman didn’t survive the firm in question is most likely to be Goldman.

One of the lessons for business owners is to employ the “be first” tactic to avoid a tsunami.
